Artist Statement:

I’ve been fascinated with drawing and painting since I was a little kid growing up in Yokohama, Japan. At age 9 our family moved to Kailua, Hawaii where I took art classes plein aire and then majored in Drawing and Painting and received a B.F.A. from University of Hawaii. When I was working full-time as an administrative assistant, I painted portraits of family members of coworkers. Vacations were taken at week-long artist retreats at Door County and Dillman’s Resort, both in Wisconsin. While volunteering for two years for the afterschool art program for People’s Resource Center, I was told DuPage Art League was looking for children’s art teachers. Currently I teach colored pencil, acrylics, and watercolor at DuPage Art League, Addison Parks District and Streamwood Parks District.
My artwork is displayed at Gallery 200 and DuPage Art League. This February show has an emphasis on portrait work of family members. See more at Margaret Bucholz’ website

This exhibit will be on display through the month of February during Gallery hours: Thurs & Fri 2-6pm, Saturday 10am-4pm and Sunday noon-4pm.
