Opening Reception

Friday August 5 from 6 to 8 pm

For the month of August, 16 artists from Morton Arboretum’s nature guild will display their beautiful art art at Gallery 200. Everyone is invited to meet the artists and enjoy refreshments at the opening reception on August 5.

In 1986, a group of artists who were primarily interested in natural history art formed the Nature Artists Guild which is a special interest group of the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL. The group is a not for profit organization which now has over 100 members active in creating art based on plants, animals and anything in the world of nature. It offers opportunities for artistic growth with classes, workshops, demonstrations and exhibits. Membership in the Guild is separate from general Morton Arboretum membership.

Each year the Guild holds two members only exhibits at the Arboretum in early April and early November as well as occasional exhibits at other venues. There are also five general meetings held at the Arboretum which feature art demonstrations by outside artists of techniques or subjects of natural world interest. These events are all open for non-members to attend free of charge. The members create a wide variety of artwork in all types of art media. The most frequent subject categories are botanical illustration, wildlife studies and landscape scenery with no or very minimal
evidence of human activity.

The exhibit  will be on display during Gallery 200 hours during the month of August (Thursdays and Fridays 4-6 and Saturdays 10-4)
